Conditional Fields

Make your new submission form interactive!

Conditional logic, also called branching or skip logic, helps make your product approval form simpler and easier to fill out by hiding questions that are not relevant to specific answers. You can add conditional rules to individual fields.

A conditional field is a field that is hidden from the respondent's view by default. Once triggered by a specific response, the new additional field is visible on the form.

To start using conditional fields, you'll first need to get to your company settings.

From there, click on the Submissions tab from the left-hand navigation. This will give you two options:

  1. Create a new field, or

  2. Edit an existing field

To learn more about creating custom fields, view our Submissions Fields article.

For this article, we'll use the example of creating a new field. Once you've clicked on the 'Add Field' button and entered in your required fields, you'll see the 'Conditions' section at the bottom of the form.

Once you've clicked the + next to 'Add Condition,' an expanded form will appear, giving you the ability to set parameters for populating a specific field, which will trigger a dependent field(s) to become required.

Once you've completed the form, click 'Add Field' to proceed to the next step.

Now that you've created your conditional field, you'll need to add this field to one of your submissions workflow templates.

You can either create a new workflow or edit an existing workflow. For this example, we'll edit a current workflow to include your newly created conditional field.

Once you've added your field, you have the option to make it Required

The last step would be to see your conditional field in action in a new Submission!  Make your way over to the Submissions section and click the blue 'Add Submission' button.

After answering the initial form questions, you will reach the details page, where you will see your new conditional field. Once the submitter has matched the parameters you've set to trigger the conditional field, the submitter will see the new requirements.

The rest of the submission process will remain the same once the submitter has completed all required fields.
