What is a Sales Report?

A sales report or royalty report is a written report detailing the number of licensed products that were sold during a given time period. The licensor/property owner receives this detailed report from a licensee in one of four periods: monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or annually. This reporting period depends on the contract terms that were agreed on upon signing.

Not every licensee reports the same sales information, but you can see any combination of the following on a sales report:

-Property
-Sale/Rate Type
-Product SKU
-Product Name
-Product Description
-Category
-Territory
-Distribution Channel
-Seller
-Unit Sales
-Unit Price
-Gross Sales
-Net Sales
-Royalty Amount
-Discounts
-Returns (Units)
