Manual Royalty Rate Reporting Overview

Brainbase has manual royalty reporting for Sales Reports that don't comply with the required data for the system to automatically calculate royalty rates based on the contract.

Ideally, a Licensor or Agency will provide each Licensee with a Sales Report template excel that they can use for uploading to Brainbase. We can provide this template for easy uploading. Licensees should be consulted as to how much data to provide in each Sales Report. The more data the better as you can track important trends in your business.

Manual royalty rate reporting will require Licensees to include and match a royalty rate column in the Sales Report. This will override Brainbase's automated royalty rate calculation and should be used only if royalty rate conditions in the contract are not supported by Brainbase.

The required fields for Manual Sales Reporting

The sales report spreadsheet file must contain the following data points:

  • Product SKU

  • Royalty rate column

The pitfalls of using Manual Sales Reporting

Missed Opportunity #1: Brainbase's Fully-automated Sales and Royalty Calculations

When using manual sales reporting, you are missing out on the true value powering our sales reporting feature, such as our fully-automated sales and royalty calculations. With manual sales reporting, your royalty revenue profits are dictated by what licensees enter in their sales reports, regardless of accuracy. This means the data entered by the licensee in their uploaded sales report overrides the contract terms as well as these advanced royalty calculations.

This also means a higher risk of human error, underreported sales, undetected calculation errors, and missing out on collecting revenue that is rightfully yours. Our automated royalty calculations enforce compliance on a system-wide basis so you don't have to.

Missed Opportunity #2: Unique Data Insights

The other pitfall to using manual sales reporting is the missed opportunity of collecting valuable data insights unique to your business. Without this, there is no data to collect, track, and analyze, and therefore no actionable insights your business can benefit from. The more data you track over time, the smarter our app becomes, and the better the analytics are able to provide value to your company.

This is critical for not only maximizing your revenue streams but most importantly maintaining agility and tracking trends that resonate with your end consumers and allow you to better connect with your customers.
